Money plays a big role in
whether you can get an education. All students struggle trying to pay for
college as they try to achieve their degree. Coming up with the money is not
easy as there are too many deadlines to meet. Many students do not know of all
kinds of resources their colleges offer. Fortunately, for these students, the
University of New Mexico offers a resource known as the Financial Aid office.
This resource offers options for students to pay for their education through
things such as student grants, loans, and scholarships. They will tell you
which scholarships you’re eligible to receive and how much the institution can
give you regarding grants and loans. Every option is viewed with every student
and eventually the best option is selected for that student.
The Financial Aid office
is located in the Mesa Vista building which could be found right in front of
the Student Union Building (S.U.B). The Student Union Building is visited by
hundreds of students each day. The S.U.B is a major attraction at UNM as this
where you can find all the events that happen at the college as well as all the
restaurants on campus. This is beneficial as these students can just stop by
for a visit to the Financial Aid office before they go hang out at the S.U.B. Also
just further down campus from the S.U.B there are other important buildings like
the bookstore and theater. Going to the Financial Aid office will not take long
as it close to these major buildings.
When visiting the
Financial Aid office you feel a warming welcome as soon as you walk in the
building. Ladies stand at the entrance ready to welcome every student that
walks through their office doors and never change their attitude no matter how
many students they have met with that day. The ladies greet you with a smile and
an extremely nice welcome. They also investigate the reason that brings you to
their office that day. With them asking you your purpose for your visit they
decide whether their services can be helpful to you or not. If their services, for
some reason, cannot help you, they will direct you in the appropriate direction
so you can achieve your goal. They may direct you to places such as the Bursar
office. One of the nice things about this resource is that you will not leave
the Financial Aid office without being helped in some sort of way.
There is never a long
wait at the Financial Aid office as there are multiple ladies behind desks
assisting students rapidly at all times. As you enter you could hear keys being
pressed nonstop on the computer keyboards from where students are being
assisted. If there is a wait however the Financial Aid office offers
televisions displayed on the walls for entertainment. Also there is many
brochures around the office that can fill you with knowledge about other
resources around UNM or brochures that can also in some cases answer your
questions about financial aid. You can never possibly be bored in the Financial
Aid office.
Once you are being helped
by the ladies of the Financial Aid office they will do everything they can to
resolve your issue. They will send e-mails or even make phone calls to get your
problems out of the way. With these e-mails and phone calls they can contact
the people that are responsible for giving the money you receive through scholarships,
grants, or loans. It will not be long before you are heading out of there with
all your concerns relieved in some kind of way. Every student seriously leave
this place with a smile and s sign of relieve of their face. I recommend for
every student at UNM to visit this amazing resource their university offers, as
it will save them a lot of trouble throughout their college career. Not only do
they relieve many students but also all those parents at home who worry for
their kids paying for college. Students want what is best and they should know not
worry parents, therefor they need this resource.
I found the Financial Aid
office extremely useful and friendly in my last visit. I felt as if the ladies
already knew me by the way they treated and greeted me. Feeling a positive
environment is always good for a student who is worrying. I believe any student
will have the same experience I did if they visit the office. Never did I think
a resource could be as helpful as the Financial Aid office. Before I actually
went to the Financial Aid office I heard other student’s opinions over this
resource and every single one of their experiences was positive. These students
pointed out things such as how fast they were helped, how they felt they could
trust the ladies behind the desks, and how friendly they found everyone who
worked there. I give the Financial Aid office five stars out of five for their
friendliness and rapidness at which they helped me. Visiting their services
does not have to mean you are in a financial problem as they can also give you good
advice on other things. In my opinion you will not waste your time giving the
Financial Aid office a visit. A visit to the Financial Aid office is definitely
worth it.
